90 Great Britons to be celebrated as part of major portrait to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday

Last night, celebrated portrait photographer Alistair Morrison hosted a private dinner with Dame Shirley Bassey, Roger Daltrey CBE and Barbara Taylor Bradford OBE at Mondrian London in celebration of his new legacy photograph, GREAT BRITONS.

Guests at the event enjoyed an exclusive early preview of the extensive portrait, unveiled to much applause by Dame Shirley Bassey, Barbara Taylor Bradford OBE and Roger Daltrey CBE. The piece will eventually feature a total of 90 Great Britons (in commemoration of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday), chosen from the world of science, medicine, film, music, charity, food, theatre, philanthropy, sport, fashion, business, television, arts, literature, architecture and technology. The triptych will measure 16 foot in length and, on completion, will be submitted to a national gallery in Britain for acquisition.

The Great Britons in attendance at the event will all be featured in the portrait. These included The Hon Celia Sandys, representing her grandfather, Sir Winston Churchill, Dame Barbara Windsor, Tracy Edwards MBE, Mary Berry CBE, Ray Davies CBE, Ali Campbell, Duncan Goodhew MBE, David Gandy, Bill Speakman VC, Miranda Hart and Rufus Sewell.

WHEN: Wednesday 30 November, 7pm to 7.30pm cocktails followed by a private dinner. This date marked the 142nd anniversary of Winston Churchill’s birth, who is considered to be the finest Great Briton of the 20th Century
