				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><h4 class="p1">7 November 2023: Legendary broadcaster and CNN’s chief international anchor Christiane Amanpour received Women in Journalism’s Lifetime Achievement Award last night (6 November 2023) at a special dinner given in her honour.</h4>
<p class="p1">This year sees Amanpour, 65, celebrate her 40<span class="s1"><sup>th</sup></span> anniversary at CNN.<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>As well as being host of CNN International’s nightly interview programme<span class="s2"><i> Amanpour</i></span>, Christiane has also just launched a new Saturday show &#8211; <span class="s2"><i>The Amanpour Hour</i></span> &#8211; which premiered at the weekend (Saturday 4<span class="s1"><sup>th</sup></span> November 2023) and airs on CNN domestic and international. </p>
<p class="p1">Beginning in 1983 as an entry-level assistant in the international assignment desk at CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta, Amanpour rose through the organisation becoming a reporter at the New York bureau and later, the network’s leading international correspondent.<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>She received an Emmy for her interview with Libya’s former leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi which was his last, has earned every major television journalism award, received nine honorary degrees and was awarded a CBE by Queen Elizabeth II in 2007 for services to journalism. </p>

				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><h5 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>26</b></span><span class="s2"><b><sup>th</sup></b></span><span class="s1"><b> January 2023, London</b></span> – L’Oréal and Net Zero Now, the climate action platform, have partnered to develop an industry-first initiative, the<b><i> Net Zero Salons Programme</i></b> &#8211; to enable hair salons to embark on the journey to Net Zero, open to salons across the UK and Ireland.</h5>
<p class="p2">The<i> Net Zero Salons Programme</i> guides salons through the process of calculating, tracking and reducing greenhouse gas emissions through tailored carbon reduction plans, with the ultimate ambition of certifying as a “Net Zero Salon”. Developed by Net Zero Now in partnership with L’Oréal, as well as involving peer reviews and input from across the industry, the programme is based on a salon-specific roadmap and tool for measuring, tracking, reporting and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p class="p2">With approximately 31,000 hair salons up and down UK high streets, salons play a significant role in the beauty economy. Data from the initial <i>Net Zero Salons Programme </i>pilot<i> </i>estimates that the average salon appointment produces 3.1kg of greenhouse gas emissions per year. In line with Science Based Targets, the programme aims to empower salons and clients alike to play their role in taking carbon reduction action and recommends that salons on the programme work towards a benchmark of 2kg per salon appointment. If all salons in the UK achieved this 2kg benchmark, the industry could remove approximately a third (33 per cent) of its greenhouse gas emissions.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p class="p2">Client habits and expectations on sustainability are evolving: recent L’Oréal surveys found that nearly half of British women (45 per cent) said they made more sustainable choices in 2022 than in previous years, and when looking more specifically at salons, 43 per cent wanted to see their salon doing more to be sustainable, and nearly a quarter (23 per cent) said they now expect a beauty or wellness service provider to be committed to reducing their environmental footprint.</p>
<p class="p2">The programme aims to make the journey to becoming a “Net Zero Salon” accessible for all salons by providing personalised and actionable recommendations; from switching to renewable energy and becoming more energy efficient, improving waste treatment and management, reducing water consumption and heating, to incentivising employees with ride to work schemes or encouraging public transport options. <p>Aromatherapy Associates join a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit. Celebrities and leading public figures are also part of the B Corp community including Jamie Oliver Group; Lily Cole and her company Impossible; Al Gore and his company Generation Investment Management; and actor Jaden Smith’s Just Water.</p>
<p>More than 100,000 businesses have engaged with the B Impact Assessment since its launch in 2006 and today there are 3,500 B Corps worldwide. The process grades brands on a points system that measures five key areas: governance, workers, environment, customers and community. Chris Turner, the executive director of B Lab UK, the non-profit organisation that certifies companies, confirmed they are seeing a “dramatic surge” in the number of businesses looking to become certified:</p>

<p>Driving positive change for both society and the environment is no longer a nice to do – it’s expected. According to new research1, consumers are no longer happy to align themselves with a company that solely delivers shareholder value.</p>
<p>The research, commissioned by B Lab, found that focusing narrowly on shareholder returns is just not good business anymore. It found:</p>
<ul>
<li>76 per cent believe capitalism isn’t working well or is harmful to the UK economy. Only 19 per cent feel that “capitalism is working well in the UK and does not need tinkering with”.</li>
<li>72 per cent believe that businesses should have a legal responsibility to the planet and people alongside maximising profits.</li>
<li>76 per cent believe businesses have a responsibility to protect the natural environment.</li>
<li>Nearly half (47 per cent) of respondees also said that they agree with the statement that businesses have a responsibility to solve social issues such as inequality, poverty and mental health issues.</li>
<li>53 per cent were more likely to favour brands that are doing good in the world.</li>
</ul>
<h5>B Corp certification helps to accelerate business growth</h5>
<p>As the world starts to recover from the pandemic, businesses around the world are looking to rebuild in a way that puts their people first and protects the communities and the environment on which they rely.</p>
<p>Research By B Lab UK showed that the average year-on-year growth rate of UK B Corporations that had recertified in 2018 was 14 per cent, 28 times higher than the national economic growth of 0.5 per cent. The potential upside of being driven by a wider mission &#8211; rather than solely trying to maximize shareholder profit &#8211; is something companies are waking up to.</p>

<p>Available in 600 destinations, this service enables traveller to get through the airport as quickly and efficiently as possible and is available on departures, arrivals and transits.</p>
<p>A DiamondAir Airport Concierge Agent is ready to greet travellers on arrival kerbside and will assist them through check in, escort through security and assist through all additional passenger health and screening protocols pre and post flight. Baggage porters can be arranged to collect and transfer luggage, with sanitisation of bags provided upon arrival (subject to airport). The Agent will ensure dwell time is minimised in the congested passenger areas of the airport and take care of any common use touch screens.</p>
<p>If a lounge has been booked, traveller/s will be escorted there while waiting to board. A boarding time will be arranged with the DiamondAir Airport Concierge Agent who will then collect traveller/s from the lounge and escort to the aircraft, avoiding busy areas and removing any unnecessary stress encountered before take off.
