The NGO, created by Frank Field MP and business tycoon Johan Eliasch, aims to halt the deforestation of rainforests. Maria Boyle Communications was briefed just two weeks before launch and had to develop a low-budget yet impactful campaign. Maria and her team immediately swung in to action and skillfully devised a media strategy that delivered mass awareness. Within 72 hours of being appointed, she had negotiated and secured four pages of coverage in The Sun, a cover and major feature for Times 2 and extensive Sky News TV and online coverage – and all before a single press release had even been written!
MB Comms has worked with the charity since its launch in 2007, guiding it on its communications strategy and supporting its in-house team to raise mass awareness. Activities have included partnering with the iconic Dame Vivienne Westwood and securing a series of high profile media pieces to encourage people to take action.
Cool Earth’s Director Matthew Owen summed up his PR experience:
“Terrific PR covering everything from advising on launch strategy and beyond, how best to position our message for maximum impact, handling a barrage of press and undertaking top level media negotiations – both in the UK and internationally – and all with 120% dedication and a good sense of humour. Just brilliant.”
